Senate Finance Chair Louise Lucas, D-Portsmouth, said Monday that she considers the game over for Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s top priority — a $2 billion sports and entertainment district in Alexandria that would bring two professional sports teams to Northern Virginia.

As Senate Republicans seek a hearing on the issue, the project remains alive in the House of Delegates and the state budget. Democrats are also using the arena project for political leverage over Youngkin, seeking his approval for their own priorities.
