On April 8th, Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department responded to 15645 Northumberland Hwy. (the Burgess Dollar General) for a fire inside of the store. After extinguishing the fire, Fairfields Chief Phillip Keyser requested that a detective from the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office respond for a possible arson investigation.
A detective responded and after examining the scene, interviewing employees, and reviewing camera footage, determined that the fire was intentionally set. After gathering evidence, a suspect was identified.
A juvenile was charged with one count of arson in Northumberland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. As per policy, the identity of the juvenile will not be released. Any further questions should be directed towards the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office.
