As Americans across the country marked the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with parades, speeches and fireworks Saturday, 63 people from nearly 30 countries celebrated the holiday in Richmond for the first time as U.S. citizens.

Inside the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, they stood, raised their right hands and took the Oath of Allegiance, joining a nation whose founding document turned 250 years old the same day.
