Virginia Democrats are finally coming to the finish line after a fractured, testy campaign for the party nomination in the 1st Congressional District. The race has tested competing visions on how to unseat an entrenched, but vulnerable, Republican incumbent in a district that leans to the GOP.

Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor has the name recognition, money and backing of the national Democratic Party, but six other candidates have different ideas on what it will take to defeat Rep. Rob Wittman, R-1st, a 19-year incumbent.
