FREDERICKSBURG, Va. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin a pipe repair project on Route 14 (The Trail) over Dickeys Swamp next week.

Starting Monday, Nov. 27, Route 14 will be reduced to one lane near Route 621 (Bruington Road) to allow crews to safely complete the work. A temporary traffic signal will be installed to alternate, one-way traffic on Route 14 between Edgehill Lane and Powcan Road.

With the temporary traffic pattern, vehicles wider than 10 feet and 6 inches will be prohibited from traveling through the work zone. White signs will be installed to alert drivers to the vehicle width restriction.

Message boards are posted to warn motorists about the upcoming work.

Drivers may experience brief delays in this area with Route 14 reduced to one lane for approximately six months.

Weather permitting, all lanes on Route 14 will reopen to traffic in early May 2024 when all repairs to the pipe are complete.
