FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – On Monday, Feb. 26, the Virginia Department of Transportation reopened a portion of Route 629 (Jacks Creek Road) in King William County after installing a new concrete box culvert.

The project replaced the original structure, consisting of three corrugated metal drainage pipes built in 1943.

Construction began in Aug. 2023 with a posted detour, which has now been removed.

Although the culvert installation is complete, motorists can expect a rough ride with loose gravel as the travel surface. Crews will return mid-March to pave.

According to a recent VDOT traffic count, approximately 144 vehicles use this portion of Jacks Creek Road daily.
