PRINCE WILLIAM — Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger got a close look Tuesday at the state fiscal outlook she will face when she becomes Virginia’s 75th governor on Jan. 17. It looks much different than the one Gov. Glenn Youngkin inherited almost four years ago.
Spanberger, a Democratic former congresswoman elected in a landslide Nov. 4, made an appearance at the House Appropriations Committee budget retreat, held at the George Mason University Science and Technology Campus near Manassas.
What she heard is that Virginia lawmakers will have less than $1.3 billion in state revenues available for discretionary spending.
