Chesterfield police late Tuesday said an arrest had been made in the shooting of a Virginia State University police officer early Sunday.
Deonta M. Blount, 21, of Chester, was arrested without incident, police said.
Blount has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer and use of a firearm in the commissions of aggravated malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer.
Officer Bruce Foster, 39, was taken to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Blount was being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.
