On Tuesday morning, Virginia State Police Search and Recovery Team divers, with the assistance of Chesapeake Police, Hampton Police, Suffolk Police and Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC), conducted exploratory dives in the waterways adjacent to the Colonial Parkway in York County. The dives were conducted due to the ongoing construction along the parkway and to follow up on new information developed by investigators since the January 2024 public announcement concerning an Isle of Wight County double homicide and a City of Hampton homicide from the 1980s. No new evidence was recovered as a result of today’s dive efforts.

The Virginia State Police, City of Hampton Police and FBI Norfolk Field Office continue to follow up on every investigative lead, especially on new information that’s come to light since January. Our agencies and investigators are also still encouraging anyone with information related to the Alan Wilmer Sr. and/or the crimes connected to him, and/or the Colonial Parkway double homicides to please come forward and contact the FBI by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip online at www.tips.fbi.gov.

Anyone with information can also reach out to the Virginia State Police by email at questions@vsp.virginia.gov or the City of Hampton Police via the Peninsula Crime Line. Anonymous tips are welcome.
