Tappahannock, Virginia  – Tappahannock Art Gallery (TAG) will kick off its holiday art exhibition by hosting an opening reception on Friday, December 1 from 5:30 to 7 pm.

The reception will provide an opportunity for visitors to view the works created by the 24 TAG member artists, and have the chance to purchase these pieces. With a variety of styles, sizes, colors and materials, the works will make for the perfect holiday gift, and also for any season.

New Guild member Vicki Owens shows stained glass birds, snowflake spinners, and Santa in the Water Street window of the gallery. Frank Rixey’s watercolors add a soft classical elegance to the gallery walls.

The holiday show also offers smaller works for sale. Liz Harper and Stephanie Smith have painted small canvases with local landscapes and farm scenes. Emily Crews’s hand-painted ornaments will brighten any Christmas tree. Leslie Rennolds has made colorful felted trees, bejeweled oysters, and mosaic hair clips.

Visitors will also notice the festive holiday window display created by the member artists. Paper snowflakes and a new pink tree brighten up the corner of Prince and Water Streets in Tappahannock.

“We are delighted to host our holiday exhibition throughout the month of December,” said Paige Conner Totaro, Executive Director of TAG. “We are especially excited to ring in this holiday season by having our talented local artists share their works and be merry with our Northern Neck community,”

The mission of TAG is to build and maintain a community art center, to promote artists and their work, and to offer opportunities for art education, cultural enrichment, and creative expression to all citizens and visitors by sharing and celebrating diverse talents, traditions, and lifestyles. TAG’s member artists exhibit their works in the gallery throughout the year, with 12 themed shows changing monthly.
