The lone defendant in the Huguenot graduation shooting asked for protection from police, saying he feared for his safety, according to videotape played in a Richmond courtroom on Tuesday.
20-year old Amari Pollard is charged in the death of Shawn Jackson, an 18-year-old killed in the shooting. Jackson’s stepfather, Renzo Smith was killed, but Pollard is only charged with Jackson’s death. Five others were wounded in the shooting outside the Altria Theater in June.
