George Washington National Monument in Westmoreland County will commemorate the 251st anniversary of George Washington’s appointment as the first Commander in Chief of the Continental Army.

This two‑day program opens at 10 AM this Saturday and Sunday, with a Presentation of the Colors, a wreath‑laying ceremony, and a Musket Salute performed by the Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard. Throughout the weekend, visitors can explore a living Soldier Camp complete with equipment displays and daily musket‑firing demonstrations. The Visitor Center, Memorial House Museum, and grounds, will remain open throughout the event.
